Posthuman Saga: Manufacturing and fulfilment update
UPDATE #34
Delay announcements are never pleasant to write. No one likes delays unless it’s a mutant virus manifesting itself creatively on your body parts… and I guess it’s one way you can look at this one.
In the last update we stated that final assembly was expected to be around the end of June with the projected fulfilment starting around the end of August. This was based on the schedule that the factory had given us, Since our last update we have continued the process of iteration that started early this year to get the production samples to the high quality we expect. All the component issues were fixed after a few iterations, but some of the miniature samples kept coming back with problems.
We have chosen to work with one of the best factories in the industry for this, Longpack, and they have been great on every front. The printed components are great, all the deluxe and plastic components also and so is their communication – but the process of iteration on the miniatures could have been better.
The latest production miniature samples. Still in need of some fixing.
We reached a point where the factory was sending us samples with the exact same problems we had highlighted in previous iterations. At the end of June we needed to have a serious talk with the factory about this and the only solution to this was deemed to be a re-doing of some of the molds bearing in mind the issues that were still cropping up. We are obviously frustrated that the factory did not recognize this to be a need sooner so we would make it in time and have expressed our dissatisfaction with them.
They have given their word that they are working on this intensively and will need 20 days to produce the new molds, a further 20 days to manufacture the minis through injection molding and another 10 days to assemble the boxes. Which takes us all the way to the end of August for manufacturing and assembly to be completed.
This means that the project will be fulfilled during October. Dates will vary depending on the region as always. We will keep you updated with exact dates once ships are booked.
The Deluxe resource counters. Colours are not all right yet so some are going to change.
We have shown the miniatures to several industry professionals and players and they have all said some of the miniatures could be better, but they felt they were acceptable. We were tempted to go with the current batch, but then we reminded ourselves that we have always promised to do our utmost in delivering the highest quality we can get out of our manufacturers and once they honestly told us they can do better, we do not feel it would right to go with what we have now just because it won’t delay the delivery and simply because it’s easier. We hope you trust our judgement on this.
We apologise for this extra delay and we hope to speak for all of you backers when we refuse to accept anything below ‘great quality’ and keep striving to achieve our vision in every detail of the game even if this means we have to wait a bit longer. You trusted us to do so and we will definitely deliver the best.
We’re very happy with the dice (there will be two of each). Hope you like the Scar die!
